EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus vs. Jackery Explorer 300 v2

Compare 286 vs. 288 Wh, 600 vs. 300 W and carrying weight. See why the RIVER 3 Plus’s extra output does not mean twice the runtime.

Compare the standalone U.S. stations

This is the RIVER 3 Plus with 286 Wh, not the 268 Wh RIVER 3 Plus (270), a RIVER 3 Max bundle or the RIVER 3 base model. The Jackery is the Explorer 300 v2, not the Explorer 300 or 300 Plus. Model names matter when comparing these small batteries.

Nearly equal capacity means nearly equal calculated runtime

At 100 W, 286 × 0.8 ÷ 100 gives 2.29 hours and 288 × 0.8 ÷ 100 gives 2.30 hours. Rounded to one decimal place, both show 2.3 hours. The two-Wh difference is under 1% and should not decide this purchase by itself.

Real low-load runtime can differ with inverter overhead, output mode and standby settings. This shared formula does not test those differences. For a 60 W laptop over four hours, our energy calculation requires 300 Wh nominal before extra reserve: neither standalone battery reaches that calculated minimum.

600 W versus 300 W: a real output difference

An example 400 W steady AC load exceeds the Jackery’s 300 W continuous rating but falls below the EcoFlow’s 600 W rating. That makes the RIVER 3 Plus worth checking for that load, provided voltage, connections and startup behavior also fit. It does not establish universal appliance compatibility.

At that steady 400 W, the RIVER 3 Plus’s estimated 228.8 Wh of usable energy lasts about 34 minutes. More available output can solve a power limit while still leaving a short session. Compare both W and Wh before choosing.

For carrying, the Jackery is lighter

The listed 3.7 kg Jackery is about 2.2 lb lighter than the 4.7 kg EcoFlow. For a few low-power devices that already fit under 300 W, that is a useful practical difference. Include the charging cables and accessories in your actual travel kit weight.

Do not compare the standalone Jackery’s weight and price with an EcoFlow bundle that includes an extra battery. The bundle changes both stored energy and what you need to carry. Check the exact items in the seller’s offer.

A useful shortlist for your setup

Shortlist the Jackery for carrying small electronic loads when 300 W is enough. Shortlist the EcoFlow when a verified simultaneous load needs more than 300 W and no more than its continuous limit. If you need substantially more time at 100 W, compare a larger capacity class rather than expecting the output difference to extend runtime.

Open the model sheets for current seller offers. Compare the same region and bundle, and check USB-C profiles if you plan to power a laptop directly. This specification comparison does not name a cheapest model or claim a tested winner.

Common questions

Does the RIVER 3 Plus last twice as long?

Its 600 W output rating is twice the Jackery’s 300 W, but their battery capacities are almost equal. At a shared load our energy calculation is almost the same.

Can I run a 500 W appliance on the Jackery using its surge rating?

Do not treat a temporary surge rating as a continuous rating. The Explorer 300 v2 is rated at 300 W continuous; check exact startup and operating requirements.

Will either run a 100 W setup for eight hours?

Not under our no-recharge 80% calculation. That session requires 1,000 Wh nominal before extra margin, well above either standalone battery.
